Qiucheng Li, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor
Qiucheng Li received her B.S. in Chemistry at Shandong University in 2012, and her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at Peking University in 2017. During her Ph.D., she developed a series of novel chemical vapor deposition (CVD) growth strategies for two-dimensional materials with high crystalline quality and practical scalability under the guidance of Prof. Zhongfan Liu. She was honored with the chancellor's scholarship, exceptional award for academic innovation at Peking University, and merit student award at Peking University, among others. After graduation, Dr. Li continued to pursue postdoctoral research at Northwestern University, where she investigated the electronic properties and surface chemistry of borophene using ultra-high vacuum scanning probe microscopy with Prof. Mark C. Hersam. She has joined the school of engineering as an assistant professor in 2024. Outside of her academic routine, Qiucheng is an avid cinephile and foodie, as well as devoted coffee enthusiast. She is actively engaged in a variety of physical activities, such as rock climbing, Pilates, and hiking.

Changren Tian
Changren was born and raised in Heze City, Shandong Province, China. He joined the Li Qiucheng group in 2024 to pursue his Ph.D. in materials science at Westlake University. Before joining the lab, he received his undergraduate degree and master's degree in materials science and engineering (MSE) from Shandong University. Currently, his work focuses on the controlled synthesis of two-dimensional magnetic materials. Beyond his academic pursuits, he maintains an active lifestyle, enjoying a variety of sports such as badminton and fitness. Furthermore, Changren exhibits a proficient command of cooking, deriving great pleasure from the practice.

Yuping Chen
Yuping (also goes by the name Yulia) was born in Wuzhou, a city located in southern China. She attended China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) for her undergraduate degree, majoring in MSE. Prior to commencing her Ph.D. studies in MSE at Westlake University in 2024, Yuping received her master's degree from SUStech. Her master's research focused on metal oxyhydroxides and their application in the oxygen evolution reaction of water electrolysis. Yuping is a passionate enthusiast of Chinese calligraphy, having practiced the art for over a decade. She is also known as an avid connoisseur of spicy cuisine. Additionally, Yuping harbors a deep appreciation for the natural world. In her spare time, Yuping enjoys a variety of activities, including traveling, reading, singing, watching films, and continuing to hone her calligraphic skills.

Yuanting Su
Yuanting was born and raised in Inner Mongolia. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in MSE from East China Normal University and her Master’s degree in MSE from the National University of Singapore. She joined Dr. Qiucheng Li’s research group at Westlake University in 2024 to pursue her Ph.D. degree. Her research interests include synthesis and engineering of 2D magnetic materials and their heterostructures. Outside the lab, she also enjoys traveling and listening to KPOP music.

Lida Yu
Lida is from Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. He received his bachelor's degree from Harbin University of Science and Technology. In 2023, he was admitted to Westlake University to pursue a doctorate and joined Qiucheng Li’s research group. Currently, his work focuses on the exploration of the synthesis of two-dimensional magnetic materials. In his spare time, Lida is passionate about hip-hop dancing and enjoys immersing himself in the rhythm of the music. In addition, he also likes to dance with his friends, unleashing his energy to the lively music.

Xinchuan Li
Xinchuan was born in Yantai, Shandong Province. He is currently pursuing his bachelor's degree at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shandong University and is expected to graduate in 2025. He will join Dr. Qiucheng Li's group at Westlake University to commence doctoral studies. In the summer of 2024, Xinchuan is undertaking a research internship at Qiucheng Li’s research group at Westlake University, focused on """"""""""""""""Fabrication of two-dimensional van der Waals Heterostructures and 'Magic Angle' graphene"""""""""""""""". In his spare time, he loves traveling, singing, and playing guitar and other activities. He also intends to cultivate a new passion for photography in the near future.

Yuxuan Zhang
Yuxuan Zhang was born and raised in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. He joined the Qiucheng Li’s group in 2023 as administrative assistant at Westlake University. Before joining in the group, he graduated from Nanjing University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and a Master's degree in Social Work. In his leisure time, he enjoys activities such as traveling and watching movies.

Jinming Zhou
Ming comes from Zhuzhou, an industrial town in eastern Hunan Province. He received his bachelor's degree in Physics from Jiangxi Normal University and obtained his master degree in physics from Southern University of Science and Technology. Now his interest focus on kinds of novel uantum materials(like films and heterostructures) growth by MBE, and their characterization by TEM and STM. At his leisure time, he watches TV series, theater and movies for pleasure. Running and swimming are his favorite sports.

Hening Wang

Hening, originally from Dongying, Shandong, will be pursuing a combined undergraduate and master’s program in Materials Science at the University of Oxford from 2024 to 2028. She is currently a visiting student at Westlake University. Her academic interests focus on the synthesis and characterization of novel 2D materials. Outside of her studies, Henning has a passion for jazz hiphop music, and she is also enthusiastic about photography and painting.

Zhifei Jiang

Zhifei Jiang (Jeffery) was born in Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province. He began studying Materials Science and Engineering in 2019 and obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Manchester and Imperial College London, respectively. In 2025, he will begin his PhD studies at the National University of Singapore. Currently, he is working as a visiting student in Professor Li Qiucheng's lab, where his research focuses on the synthesis methods and performance regulation of 2D magnetic materials and their heterostructures. Outside of academics, he enjoys spending his time on basketball, Go, traveling, and movies.
